Fall of 2016 was spent exploring my own irrational intimidation of the police, and how this could affect my picture making. These mindsets were fueled by a building skepticism of power structures controlled by the institution(s) guiding these officers. I was interested in a closer understanding of the human beneath the uniform, the personality that is commonly covered by this occupational shield. In collaboration with each officer I presented two very different cameras as tools to engage a seemingly superficial perception of one another. However, the process of capturing this spontaneous interaction exemplifies a way to diminish social barriers through creative means.
